Hello my friends! Yesterday I launched four Kickstarters, one for each language I wanted to translate Lost Solace into. Yay!

Then, in the evening, I got an email off Kickstarter and it turned out they'd incorrectly approved my projects, and wanted to delete three of them ... cue a sleepless night as I tried to work out how to salvage things this morning! Boo!

The outcome is that for various technical and logistical reasons I have decided to merge them into one project that now covers all four languages.

What does that mean for backers? Only good things! If this project succeeds then Lost Solace will become available in four new languages. Backers can pick the one they're interested in (German, French, Spanish or Italian). So the end result is just more choice for them.

The only downside is for me: since this project was already live, I couldn't change the funding goal. So instead of four projects that might provide £150 per language, giving me £600 to start with, I'm now committed to going ahead even if I only raise £150. Hey ho. I guess it proves I am more of an author than a businessman. Still, as an author I am used to scraping by, existing far below the minimum wage, so why change that now? :-) Anyway, it means support for this project is even more appreciated.

And, since the chances are I will have to look for savings ... all books benefit from more eyes on them before launch. Translations doubly so. So having people skim the translation prior to publication would be invaluable. If any of you are fluent in French, German, Spanish or Italian, and either love Lost solace so much you'd like to read it again in another language (my hero!) or haven't read the book but are intrigued, please let me know! You're not committing to anything (e.g. if you started reading Lost Solace but couldn't continue or didn't want to, I'm still going to be thankful that you thought of me!) Also note that I'm just after people who would read it and flag up anything that was confusing or sounded really wrong to a native speaker. You don't need to be a language expert, or translate anything - just read it as a normal speaker of the language would.

The Green Man

I like to include something personal. Yesterday was the posts where an AI wrote stories in the style of Karl Drinkwater. Today I'll end with pictures of a litter pick I recently took part in, that got mentioned in a few places. Yes, that's me scrambling up a bank like geriatric spiderman. There was a traffic cone and load of crisp packets that needed rescuing before they ended up in the river.
